Full course description
Do you know what you want to say but struggle to put it into a clear, convincing essay? This course shows you how, one step at a time.
You start small, with one good paragraph: a topic sentence, supporting sentences and a concluding sentence. Then you build up to a full five-paragraph essay on a social issue you care about, such as gun control in the USA, the treatment of Aboriginal people in Australia, knife crime in the UK, or First Nations rights in Canada.
You learn how to:
- Choose a narrow, interesting topic in an English-speaking country
- Write a strong thesis statement that takes a clear position
- Find reliable sources online and check them with the four W’s
- Quote and paraphrase correctly, and avoid plagiarism
- Build body paragraphs with claim, evidence, comment and transition
- Write an introduction that hooks the reader and a conclusion that closes the argument
- Use APA 7 in your text and make a correct reference list
The course works for every level from A2 to C1. A level toggle shows tips and targets for your level, so beginners and advanced writers can follow the same course at their own pace. You learn by doing: short explanations, a colour-coded model essay, interactive exercises with instant feedback, and writing tasks that build your own essay piece by piece.
By the end, you will have a finished, well-structured essay you can be proud of, and a method you can use for any essay in the future.
